Janata college of Serfanguri is the only provincialised premier institution of higher education within the radius of 25 km. from its neighbouring colleges. The college is located in a remote and rural area which is mainly dominated by ST and OBC population. The institution's goal is to educate the students of this area in a proper way without compromising on quality. There are many poor but talented students in the rural areas of Bodoland. While a small percent of students of this category have managed to make their way to successful life, the majority has got stuck in the bog of backwardness and their talents are found wasted due to lack of institution of higher education in the rural areas. Under such circumstances, our college has a great role to play in the equitable development of the society. To build up the society we need to build the younger generation, because students of today become citizen of tomorrow. The society urgently needs good people and good leaders to overcome the present crisis. So students are the most precious human resources of the nation. They have to be mentored carefully along with the right direction. Considering the gravity of the matter, our education system of today has got a tremendous responsibility and a challenging task of affecting changes in the behavior and attitude of the students. Educational institutions have got the role of engaging the students in developing creativity, entrepreneurship and skills to face the demands and challenges of the modern world. Committed to its vision and mission, Janata College of serfanguri came in to existence on the 3rd of August 1977. We look forward to providing excellence to our students in both curricular and extra-curricular activities. We have made steady efforts to provide the students with good and conducive academic environment within the college campus. Since its inception in 1977 the college in its long journey of 37 years has seen different situations and passed through different hurdles on the road of its development.
