PREPACE TO THE DEPARTMENTAL PROFILE OF THE DEPTT. OF BODO:
Janata College, is a pioneer institution of higher education in this rural and fur flung area in the district of Kokrajhar, was established in the year 1977. As the college is located in a very backward rural area mainly inhabited by Bodo speaking community, it is felt by the people of the area that Bodo MIL should also be introduced along with Assamese (MIL) which is the official language of the state. There was no eligible candidate for the subject at the time of introduction of the subject, because at that time the Bodo was not introduced PG course in any university neither in Assam nor India. Therefore, any Bodo knowing Master Degree holder was appointed to teach Bodo. Later on in the year 1994, the Govt. of Assam did really appoint Bodo knowing master degree holders having PG certificate or diploma course in Bodo. This problem, made Janata College to appoint temporarily to teach the subject.
